A delegation of the American companies operating in India led by Aniruddha Lahiri, vice-chairman, American Chamber of Commerce in India (Amcham India) would visit Dhaka from February 8 to 10, 2011. The purpose of the visit is being touted as the exploration of business opportunities and investment potential in Bangladesh.
The 17-people delegation representing business interests ranging from infrastructure (power, railways and roads), telecommunications, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, IT and agriculture will explore possibilities to increase the presence of American companies in Bangladesh.
The delegation will interact with the business leaders of Bangladesh in their meetings with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Amcham Bangladesh.
A call by the Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina welcoming Public-Private Partnership and a 5 per cent plus annual growth rate for the last few years and other economic developments attracted these companies to visit Bangladesh
