Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) will set down financial management guidelines for projects under its purview.

The guidelines will provide extent of financial risk the municipality can take in terms of loans towards civic projects. Once formulated, the guidelines would be placed before the Mayor.

The guidelines will ensure timely payment of loan installments to financial institutions such as Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to avoid damaging its credit ratings. All this would be done without impeding the pace of development projects.

The projects have been classified into two categories: Part one consists of major projects scheduled to be completed before March 31, 2006. Part two involves development of rotaries, gardens and sewerage lines in the city.

A loan of Rs 60 crore has already been taken from Hudco for roads in the first phase, and Rs 50 crore would be availed in the second phase, official sources said. Grid separators, construction and restoration of the city's major bridges have been planned at Rs 12.50 crore.

IMC is also considering online building permission from zonal offices in three months. It has sanctioned Rs 75 lakh for computerisation.

An equal sum has been approved for construction of three fully automated zonal offices in the city.

IMC will spend Rs 30 crore on new roads. Roads worth Rs 25 crore would be developed with public participation inside residential colonies.

The civic body expects to receive Rs. 14.50 crore from Central Zoo Authority for Quaidibag plan.

The corporation has made provision for Rs. 40 lakh for Khan river abatement scheme in order to obtain more land for the development purpose as the rivulet known as Khan River has its flow through the city area.
