The industry grew 8.8% in February 2006 powered by the growth in manufacturing and electricity. According to official data released today, manufacturing grew 9.5%, electricity 9% and mining 0.9% in February 2006 as compared to the same month of the previous year. The index of industrial production (IIP) for February showed that 13 of the 17 industry groups had positive growth. During the cumulative period of April-Feb 2005-06, IIP registered a growth of 8% as compared to the corresponding period in the previous fiscal. During the first 11 months of FY06, manufacturing recorded a growth of 9%, electricity by 5.3% and mining by 0.5%.
