Infibeam's Buildabazaar to link rural products to major products

With its recently launched division 'Build-A-Bazaar', Ahmedabad-based leading e-commerce firm Infibeam.com looks to create rural-urban linkages that the company expects will benefit farmers in the state.

"Not only do now village level entrepreneurs bring urban products to rural areas at transparent prices but also the local produce is now available to urban cities through Buildabazaar platform. For instance, a rural product like Gir cow ghee will now find buyers not only in nearby villages but also in urban cities through an e-commerce website of a villager on Buildabazaar platform," said Vishal Mehta, Founder and CEO of Infibeam.com.

Buildabazaar.com, Infibeam's cloud based e-commerce platform which is based out of Ahmedabad already has completed 18,000 e-commerce store implementations since its launch in 2011.

The self-service platform comes with all the e-commerce features of product upload, promotions, accounting, analytics, payment gateway, logistics and reporting.

Hence, Infibeam helps anyone to sell their products online as their own business using Buildabazaar platform.

The company has successfully implemented the platform for a wide variety of large retailers in India ranging from The Mobile Store (www.themobilestore.in), Crossword (www.crossword.in), Vijay Sales (www.vijaysales.com), VIP bags (shop.vipbags.com), Hidesign as well as small and medium enterprises such as Bookmywish, Mumbaibookstore, Netbhet, TheElementFactory and others.

According to Mehta, while earlier urban products were available in rural areas at a 30-40 per cent premium price, with rural entrepreneurs setting up business on Buildabazaar.com, they can access urban products and sell them at transparent prices with a one per cent discount.

"Also, bad products used to come to rural which have now stopped through build-a-bazaar," Mehta added.

For retailers looking to go online, BuildaBazaar offers many benefits, such as pre-designed product catalogue with over 12 million items, in-built search engine optimisation (SEO) framework for promotions, tie-ups with over 30 national and international logistics providers as well as, an integrated payment gateway.

Rural e-commerce platforms form about 17 per cent of the total 18,000 platforms on Buildabazaar.com which Infibeam expects to see grow.

Mehta added that the total value of transactions taking place on Buildabazaar is now over Rs 500 crore, with Gujarat forming 5-7 per cent of it.
