Infosys BPO, the Business Process Outsourcing arm of $7 billion Infosys Limited is planning to expand its footprints by setting up new centres in various geographies. The Bangalore-based company is set to expand its presence in markets like South America, Latin America and Asian region.
Speaking to Business Standard, Swami Swaminathan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Infosys BPO said, “Our new strategy of finalizing a location for expansion is not based on our understanding of the location but based on our clients' need. We go to a location only when we believe we can add value to our clients and that geography can provide a strategic and competitive advantage to our clients.”
The company already has presence in some of these locations. Infosys also said that in the Asia region there are new geographies which are emerging such as Sri Lanka.
“As per our new strategy of Infosys 3.0 we are taking an integrated approach and we create solution based on the client needs,” he said.
At present the company has centres in Mexico, Brazil and China in these regions. The company believes that expanding into newer geographies and entering new locations will strengthen the global delivery model.
“With the new model we are helping our clients to enter a new market quicker. The four new geo business units are also helping us to make this easier,” added Swaminathan.
The company, which is planning to achieve the target of $1 billion also said that acquisition is also a strategy to enter the newer geographies. The company recently has acquired the business process outsourcing arm of the US-based Marsh & McLennan Companies, for an undisclosed amount and Australia-based sourcing and category management services firm Portland Group.
“Our performance is as per our estimates. We expect a growth of 17-18 per cent by the end of the year and in the first six months we have recorded a 17 per cent growth,” he added.
