As an extension of its business strategy to take advantage of the benefits of locating development centres in Tier-II towns, Infotech Enterprises Limited, a city-based technology solutions provider offering engineering and geographic information services, is setting up a new facility at the IT special economic zone (SEZ) at Sarpavaram in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

The new five-campus, the foundation for which was laid by Union minister of state for defence Pallam Raju and state IT&C minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, will be a development centre with 1,000 seats over built-up area of 100,000 sft.

Infotech currently operates out of Kakinada with 540 associates. The new facility would be the company’s sixth centre in India – two in Hyderabad (Madhapur and Manikonda), and one each at Bangalore, Noida and Visakhapatnam.

“This would be a key milestone in our path of growth. Kakinada is an attractive Tier-II city in Andhra Pradesh for software and services companies because of the quality engineering talent offered by technical institutes and universities in and around Kakinada,” BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman and managing director of Infotech, said in a release on Monday.

Infotech Enterprises’ scrip is currently trading at Rs 158.10 on the BSE, down 1.80%, over the previous close of Rs 161.
