Inkel's standard design modules facility at Kochi ready for lease

Industries minister PK Kunhalikutty will inaugurate the Standard Design Modules (SDM) facility at Angamaly near here on Thursday.  The facility holds 40 modules of 200,000 sft space in five floors, with individual modules of 5,000 sft each. Entrepreneurs can lease or rent  these  modules and use the facilities to suit their business.

Inkel Limited, a state government initiative to provide infrastructure facilities, is offering this facility for non-polluting industries like electronics, avionics, apparels, light engineering, printing & publishing, IT and ITeS and warehousing. A Chinese company has already leased out modules for assembling electric scooters while an FMCG company will set up a 240,000 sft warehousing space here.

SDM  is in close proximity to the National Highway-47 and Kochi International airport.

Inkel  is also getting a second SDM complex done over 300,000 sft. This will be ready for allotment by January 2014. It has plans to invest Rs 5,000 crore in five years for various projects across the state.

Among others, Inkel will set up PURA projects at Thalikulam and Thriurangadi with an investment of Rs 235 crore over a period of three years. The Centre will extend 56 per cent of the total cost, state government 14 per cent and INKEL/partners will provide the rest. The project include water supply scheme, roads, apparel park, market complex and gas crematorium.

The Kerala Institute of Retail Management will also be operational soon at Kalamassery near here. The institute will have extension centres across the state.

Govt’s in-principle sanction for 11 projects
The state government had already given in-principle sanction to 11 projects at various locations, according to a release.

These include Olympic tower, commercial complex, market area development project and entertainment centre at Thiruvananthapuram, centre of excellence in Ayurvedic medicines at Kollam, backwater resort at Alappuzha, transport sector master project for Kottayam, international exhibition and trade centre and furniture city at Kochi and development of Beypore port, near Kozhikode.
