"We would set up about 40-45 multiplexes across the country by 2010 with an investment of at least Rs 500 crore," INOX Leisure chief operating officer Alok Tandon said.
The company would utilise the proceeds of the initial public offer that it made two years back for the expansion. Some investment would also be arranged through internal accruals, he added.
The multiplex chain thus would have about 264 screens by 2010 from 80 at present. "There is tremendous opportunity for setting up more screens in the country. We would set up the properties in tier-II and tier-III cities as well," Tandon said.As for producing movies, INOX is looking at the right kind of offer.
"We are in discussion with many players. We will choose the movie which comes at a value and commercially viable for us," he said.
The company is also exploring opportunities in the film distribution business. It has distributed 35 movies in West Bengal like Race, Rang De Basanti and Om Shanti Om. It has also distributed Race in Rajasthan.
