Intel, in partnership with BSNL, the Public Call Offices Association and Itz Cash, has launched its innovative ePCO in Chandigarh.
According to John E Davies, vice-president (sales and marketing), Intel World, the ePCO would offer an alternative revenue model for PCO owners who till now thrived on voice call revenues.
The ePCO drive aims at creating self employment opportunities, bridging the digital divide and increasing IT adoption in semi-urban and rural areas. This initiative is in line with Intel’s objectives of bringing together industry support in accelerating broadband connectivity in the country that can act as an economic growth driver.
Davies maintained that Intel was extending broadband connections to the existing PCOs to provide them with an alternative revenue option and also a PCO to offer a host of other services.
