Chip maker Intel is working with its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners to bring Intel-based tablets starting Rs 10,000 in the India market this year.

As part of the company's strategy to accelerate growth in India, Intel plans to increase focus on new mobile form factors like 2-in-1s and tablets this year, it said in a release today.

"There are over 200 million middle-class potential customers in India alone for different screen sizes across different price points. We are seeing a lot of traction in the 7 to 9 inch space here," the chip maker said in a release quoting Anand Ramamoorthy, director-consumption sales, South Asia as saying.

Intel sees tablet demand in Asia Pacific and Japan rising in 2014 by 32% year-on-year.

"In particular, India, Indonesia, Japan and Australia will equate to 59% of tablet demand," said the chip maker in the release. Tablet demand in India is seen at 18% of the Asia Pacific and Japan (ex-China) demand for 2014, said Intel.
