One of world's largest hotel group's the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), today announced the development of 31 new hotels to be opened across major metros and secondary cities across India over the next few years. This will effectively add over 7,600 rooms.
This growth momentum will be driven by IHG’s three brands in India – InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, and Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts. IHG currently has 11 hotels in India.
The upcoming hotels will be located in Tier I and Tier II cities such as New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Cochin, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune and will be run under a management contract, said the company in a statement.
Tony South, Chief Development Officer, IHG Asia-Pacific, said, “We have committed sizeable resources to focus on India, these include a team of over 30 hotel support professionals locally based in our Gurgaon corporate office and a dedicated design and engineering team to support owners and their consultants – ensuring developments are cost efficient and meeting the needs of the Indian market."
