US-based Intransa Inc plans to step up operations in India. The company, which offers complete IP SAN (Storage Area Network) products, is targeting financial, media, telecommunications and BPO verticals in the country. |
Avi Katz, president & CEO, Intransa Inc, said: "India is a great market and we expect Indian operations to generate 20-25 per cent of our total revenue by the end of 2005. We are looking at continuous growth". The company is set to expand its engineering design centre in Pune. |

Katz pointed out that "the company has been meeting targets every quarter since June 2003 and would prefer raising funds through an IPO for aggressive execution of its plans". |

Katz said that IP-SAN is expected to occupy 30-60 per cent of the global market for storage solutions which is estimated at around $30 billion in 2006-07. |

Katz said the IP storage products reduce the cost and complexity of workgroup, departmental and enterprise network and will take full advantage of ethernet technology and IP. "We are offering IP SAN across the network storage at very low cost," he added. |

Most SANs are fibre channel based which results in high cost and difficulty in managing installations. Reliance Infocomm offers storage area in its internet data centres. However, Intransa focuses on helping enterprise customers reduce their IT spending, simplify storage management, realize a faster return on their IT investment and ensure the highest possible levels of system availability and performance. |

Katz pointed out that enterprises are moving away from direct attached storages to SAN considering security for their critical corporate data. |
