Investigations are still on at Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur facility to find out the cause of explosion that occured last week when one of its gas holders exploded injuring eleven workers.

“Investigation is still on and it is difficult to say when we will arrive at the conclusion as this is a very technical issue which involves lot of things and so is bound to take some time,” a company source close to the development told Business Standard today.

All the injured workers are undergoing treatment at Tata Main Hospital. Of the eleven injured, one person had sustained serious injuries, while others suffered minor wounds, the company had said in a release.

“There is no casualty reported,” said a Tata Steel spokesperson. “One of them who was seriously injured is also out of danger,” he added.

The fire that ocurred due to the gas explosion has been extinguished and the gas leakage had been arrested, the company had said last week.

“Even those workers who have suffered minor wounds were injured because they ran haywire as panic struck due to the explosion and fire at the facility,” the spokesperson said. “The injury was not due to the explosion,” he clarified.

The 9.7-million-tonne capacity steel plant of Tata Steel at Jamshedpur is the company’s largest plant.
