Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country's largest refiner, said it will work over the weekend to ensure that its fuel retail stations have enough fuel supply to meet its customers needs.
Addressing the media today, IOC Chairman Sarthak Behuria said: "IOC officials will work during the weekends and ensure that supply to the fuel retail stations is met."
IOC's Mathura refinery has been shut, whereas production from other refineries have declined drastically. IOC, a major supplier of aviation turbine fuel to airlines, has deployed Territorial Army personnel along with senior management staff at the Delhi and Mumbai airports to supervise re-fuelling work.
Coming down heavily on the officers on strike, Behuria said: "We have provided the police with a list of names of the officers on strike. If the officers don't report to work, they will be put behind the bars."
The government has invoked Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the officers on strike.
IOC scrip closed at Rs 435, up 3.32 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange today.
