IOC Haldia, Digboi refineries win energy conservation awards

Panipat naphtha cracker also bag the award in petrochemicals sector

State-owned Indian Oil Corp's refineries at Haldia in West Bengal and Digboi in Assam and naphtha cracker unit at Panipat in Haryana have won Energy Conservation Award.

The awards were received by IOC Director (Refineries) Rajkumar Ghosh from President Pranab Mukherjee at a glittering ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan here recently, IOC said in a press release said.

IOC's Haldia refinery was conferred the first prize among all the refineries. Digboi refinery bagged the second prize in the coveted awards and made a record by being in the top positions for the fourth consecutive year.

Panipat naphtha cracker also won the award in the petrochemicals sector for its commitment towards energy efficiency and energy conservation, the release said.

In order to intensify the energy conservation initiatives, the Power Ministry has instituted 'National Energy Conservation Award' which is given every year.

These awards are given in 11 major categories covering 35 different sub-sectors of large and medium scale industries mainly on the basis of improvement in specific energy and energy conservation initiatives.
