Maharatna company Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Chairman and Managing Director RS Butola today inaugurated their modern Lube Oil Base Stock facility at their Tondiarpet plant here.
The fully-automated facility, spread across 2.85 acre land, has been set up at a cost of Rs 23.36 crore.
It would largely cater to bulk volume customers. With a combined capacity of over 8,000 kl, it would handle variety of Lube base oil grades.
The new facility would replace the present facility used by its subsidiary company Chennai Petroleum Corporation for sale of bulk lube base oils.
The facility would commence operations with an initial capacity of producing 4,000 tonne a month, gradually raising it to 8,000 tonne a month.
The facility would receive all grades of base oils from CPCL'S Manali Refinery through a dedicated pipeline.
Seven storage tanks with capacity of 1,150 kl each, are connected to the pipeline for receipt of specific grades of lube base oils, it said.
