Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country's largest petroleum retailing company, has tied up with Total of France to market additives in the country. These performance-enhancing additives when added to petrol or diesel, improve mileage and reduce maintenance costs of vehicles. |
The two oil giants unveiled Servo Adon P and Servo Adon D additives for petrol and diesel, respectively. |
M S Ramachandran, chairman and managing director of IOC, said, "We have entered into two strategic alliances with Total. One for additives and another for our research and development (R&D) centre. It is a parallel product that we are offering to the customer to blended fuels like Speed, Power and Xtra Premium available in the market." |
N G Kannan, director, marketing, of IOC, said the additives will help the customer save 35 paise a litre in comparison with the blended fuels. |
The additives will be available in 5ml, 10 ml, 20 ml, 40 ml and 100 ml packs. |
T L Jain, executive director (retail), IOC, said the company would initially market additive through its 8,600 retail outlets across the country. |
However, he has not ruled out marketing of these additives through the bazaar route. |
Almost all the oil PSUs are marketing additives at their retail outlets in addition to blended branded fuels. |
