Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country's largest petroleum retailing company, has tied up with Total of France to market additives in the country.
These performance-enhancing additives when added to petrol or diesel, improve mileage and reduce maintenance costs of vehicles.
The two oil giants unveiled Servo Adon P and Servo Adon D additives for petrol and diesel, respectively.
M S Ramachandran, chairman and managing director of IOC, said, "We have entered into two strategic alliances with Total. One for additives and another for our research and development (R&D) centre. It is a parallel product that we are offering to the customer to blended fuels like Speed, Power and Xtra Premium available in the market."
N G Kannan, director, marketing, of IOC, said the additives will help the customer save 35 paise a litre in comparison with the blended fuels.
The additives will be available in 5ml, 10 ml, 20 ml, 40 ml and 100 ml packs.
T L Jain, executive director (retail), IOC, said the company would initially market additive through its 8,600 retail outlets across the country.
However, he has not ruled out marketing of these additives through the bazaar route.
Almost all the oil PSUs are marketing additives at their retail outlets in addition to blended branded fuels.
