In order to promote better plumbing services for saving water and energy, Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) has decided to set up a plumbing lab in Ahmedabad.
"IPA is going to set up a plumbing laboratory in Ahmedabad in due course to promote better plumbing practices for the sake of water, energy saving and hygienic conditions," said Sandeep Engineer, chairman, IPA, Gujarat Chapter while speaking at 17th Indian Plumbing Conference (IPC), which began in Ahmedabad today.
Experts at the event opined that proper plumbing is quite important in view of hygienic conditions and saving of energy as well as water but about 85 to 90 per cent of all the plumbing installation work is done by untrained and unqualified labourers since there is no proper system to train plumbers and plumbing is not given the due importance, which it deserve.
The emphasis was also laid on the need to promote the efficient plumbic system saying that every one rupee spent on proper plumbing system saves medical treatment cost of Rs. 10.
