Taking its green building movement further in Gujarat, the Indian Society for Heating Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) said it will focus on high performance energy homes and offices in Ahmedabad.
Even while the realty sector in Ahmedabad is witnessing a slow growth, ISHRAE is banking on increased need for high performance buildings of corporates. The industry body held ACREX 2012, the international exposition on Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire and Building Services in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
"Ahmedabad like many other major cities across the world, is witnessing an increase in high performance infrastructure for software companies, corporate offices and homes. This advanced infrastructure is mushrooming in the city with the support from Government and as CSR initiative of many companies,” said Pankaj Dharkar, co-chairman, ACREX 2012.
According to the industry body, companies in Ahmedabad are preferring high performance buildings to set up or expand their business. "They are realising the benefits of high performance buildings like low energy consumption, low water consumption, less impact on environment, better indoor air quality, and increased productivity from employees, among other things. Many high performance buildings are under construction or in design stage in Ahmedabad," said Dharkar.
Meanwhile, the domestic industry is strongly focused on these requirements apart from the rapidly growing residential sector.
"As a society, it is important that we work towards sustainable development of green and healthy environment and reducing carbon footprints," Dharkar added.
