ISL plans expansion with Rs 973 cr, to set up 2 units

Ind Synergy Ltd (ISL), which has a mega steel plant near Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, is now going to invest Rs 973.80 crore in expansion.
 
The company has two units, in Kotmar and Mahapalli in Raigarh district (now a part of Chhattisgarh), to manufacture essential steel products "� Sponge Iron, Billets and Structure Steel with a capacity of 3,00,000 tonnes per annum along with 24 MW captive power plant and steel melt shop of 200,000 tonnes per annum.
 
The third unit will be constructed in the same vicinity as the other two units.
 
According to a company source, in the third phase of expansion the ISL plans to produce high quality stainless steel and alloy steels and will focus on quality rather than tonnage.
 
"The company will arrange fund in 2:1 ratio of debt and equity," the spokesperson said. The company will manufacture specialised stainless and alloy steel products under the proposed phase.
 
The backward integration operations like captive coal blocks, iron ore mines, crusher, screening and own railway siding, in Chhattisgarh, put the company at an advantage in terms of cost cut.
 
The new facility will have rolling mills of 4 lakh tones per annum besides continuous casting machine, a sinter plant, blast furnace etc.
 
The company, according to the source, is in process of acquiring 285 acres of land in addition to 258 acres which it has already acquired. The new ISL will make the announcement regarding this expansion at plant site tomorrow (June 15).
 
The group has annual turnover of around Rs 4,000 million ($85 million) consisting export turnover of around 15 per cent. ISL is also a government of India export house with diversified interests in edible oil, mining, solvent extraction and wind energy besides steel production.
 
ISL has also taken mining and quarry rights from Government of Madhya Pradesh, on lease basis, for marble, granite, dolomite, zinc and manganese.
 
The company has set up a processing plant to produce marble and granite tiles in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh.
