Israel Aircraft offers vehicle tracking chips

A delegation from the Israel Aircraft Industries Limited, which met chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here yesterday has offered a multi-purpose computer chip technology for tracking the movement of each vehicle on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
 
As the discussions were inconclusive, the chief minister who left for Bangalore later in the evening to attend the Suminfra programme, has asked the transport department officials to have further consultations with the Israeli company.
 
The multi-purpose chips would be fitted to all the vehicles which will enable the agency to monitor their movement through satellites.
 
The benefits from this technology include, nabbing vehicle lifters, checking pollution levels of a particular vehicle, vehicle authentication during sale and purchase of vehicles and checking tax evasion among others.
 
It will also enable the administration to check the vehicle in a very quickly "� taking about 150 nano seconds to read the data.
 
The tracking facility which would be run by the company on a revenue sharing basis will not cost the government any extra money, officials said.
