J K Synthetics of the Kanpur-based J K group, at present under the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) ambit, was able to implement a new project with a cement capacity of 7.5 lakh tonne per annum in fiscal 2001-02. The plant was commissioned in December 2001.
There was a 25 per cent increase in sales volume against an industry average of 10 per cent, cement production increased to 2.30 metric tonne as against 1.89 mt in the previous year, and cement despatches increased to 2.32 mt as against 1.88 mt last year.
