The Jaipuria group has set up Universal Dairy Products Private Limited in joint venture with Candia, a French dairy major. Candia provides technical collaboration for Cream Bell. The group plans to bring Candia products like yoghurt to India by next summer. |

Addressing the media at the launch of Cream Bell in Hyderabad, M S Parikh, chief executive officer, Universal Dairy Products Pvt Ltd, said, "The Indian ice-cream market is worth Rs 1,000 crore and Hyderabad is a significant contributor. We, therefore, decided to foray into south via Hyderabad. We will be soon entering other markets like Guntur, Vijayawada and Vizag besides Pune, Goa and Bangalore." |

Cream Bell is already present in northern states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh among others. |

"We have one plant in Agra, and by March we will be setting up another plant at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh that will have a capacity of 13 million litres of ice-cream. By 2007, we plan to set up a plant in Guntur also with an approximate capacity of eight million litres," Parikh said. |

An investment of Rs 100 crore has been outlined from 2003-08 for setting up new plants and marketing the products. |

"We plan to achieve a turnover of Rs 100 crore from south by 2007," he added. |

On the group's coffee chain "� Costa Coffee, Parikh said, "At present, we have set up one outlet in Delhi. By 2007, we plan to go national. We will be setting up outlets in Bangalore and Hyderabad next year." |

With regard to Candia, Parikh said, "Our tie-up with the French company is for technology purposes. But we intend to bring the products of Candia to India by next summer." |
