JBM plans Rs 30 cr for Nashik unit

Delhi-based JBM Auto (JBMA) is setting up a sheet metal manufacturing facility in Nashik at an investment of Rs 30 crore.
 
The facility, which will be fully dedicated to Mahindra Renault's Logan car project, is expected to start operations by January 2007.
 
JBM Auto is an emerging player in sheet metal components segment. The firm is a part of the JBM group, which specialises in the auto ancillary business. JBMA has 19 manufacturing facilities in the country.
 
The company has just bought the electronic division of Crompton Greaves in Satpur area of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) at Nashik, at an undisclosed amount. It is setting up its sheet metal manufacturing facility here.
 
Mahindra Renault, a 51:49 joint venture between the automobile group Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and French car-maker Renault, is setting up a Logan car manufacturing plant adjacent to M&M's state-of-the-art factory for manufacturing Scorpio at Nashik and this plant will be operational by early 2007.
 
The Logan is a Right Hand Drive (RHD) entry-level C segment car. Mahindra Renault has set a target to manufacture 50,000 Logan cars in the first year. The car would have localised content of 50 per cent from the start.
 
"Mahindra Renault has signed an agreement with JBM Auto to outsource sheet metals for its Logan car. JBM Auto has already started building the sheet metal manufacturing facility near Motor Industries Company (MICO)'s plant in Satpur area of MIDC at Nashik. This facility, dedicated to Mahindra Renault's Logan car project, is expected to start operations by January 2007. JBM Auto is investing Rs 30 crore for setting up the Nashik manufacturing facility," sources said.
 
JBMA is also venturing into manufacturing of special purpose vehicles (SPV) by setting up a manufacturing unit at Faridabad, Haryana near Delhi with an investment of Rs 20 crore.
 
SPVs are custom-built vehicles, which are used in different industries for specified purpose.
