“The government has entrusted the task of preparation of comprehensive regional perspective plan, including master plan and development plan for selected industrial nodes, along the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) to Jica as nodal agency of the CBIC project,” Union commerce and industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
CBIC, which is being designed on the lines of Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, covers Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. World-class infrastructure for industry is planned along these corridors. She said, master planning of three identified nodes in the region -- Krishnapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Tumkur (Karnataka) and Ponneri (Tamil Nadu) -- has been completed.

“Jica has submitted the draft master planning report to the central government. Jica has also listed 25 priority projects in the CBIC region, which are at different stages of implementation,” she added.
The government has also planned three other such corridors -- Bengaluru-Mumbai Economic Corridor (BMEC), Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) and Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). The move is aimed at boosting economic activity and attracting investments into the country. In a separate reply, the Minister said India exported meat worth Rs 27,741 crore during April-February 2015.
“As per the export returns filed by exporters with APEDA, Allanasons Pvt Ltd is the largest exporter for buffalo and sheep/goat meat in the country. The company has exported buffalo and sheep/goat meat worth Rs 18 crore in 2013-14,” Seetharaman added.
