The Rehabilitation and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has asked the company to give permanent jobs to at least one person from each family displaced by its six million tonne steel project at Nisha near here.
All other categories of land oustees will be given jobs as per the state rehabilitation policy, 2006.
It may be noted, permanent jobs in the company and increased rate of land compensation at Rs 50 per acre for phase II of the project, formed the two main demands of the land oustees who have been agitating since last few months.
On higher land compensation, it was decided in the meeting to constitute a sub-committee under the chairmanship of the collector to thrash out a solution. The sub-committee will submit its final report by the end of next month.
The Revenue Divisional Commissioner of Northern Division Arabinda Padahee chaired the RPDAC meeting which was attended by the district collector Arabinda Agrawalla, SP, Narasingh Bhol and the Executive Director of JSPL D.K.Sarogi besides the local MP and MLA among others.
