Jindal Steel & Power has completed the installation of four rotary kilns of 1,80,000 metric tonne (MT) each for manufacturing sponge iron, 50 MW (2 X 25 MW) power plant, and a steel melting shop with an annual capacity of 7,50,000 MT in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh in two phases earlier than their scheduled dates of completion.According to a release issued by the company to the BSE today, the projects have been completed 2-6 months ahead of the schedule.While the installation of rotary kilns in two phases were completed six months in advance, the power plants were put up 2-6 months ahead of schedule, the release said.The expansion has increased sponge iron capacity to 13.70 lakh MT from 6.50 lakh MT, power capacity to 265 MW from 215 MW and steel melting capacity to 11.50 lakh MT from 4 lakh MT."It will take about three months for the new facilities to reach their optimum level of production," the release added.
