Jindal Electricals, a midsized manufacturer of industrial voltage stabilisers in Ludhiana, has planned an investment of Rs 10 crore for expanding its operations, which includes a new unit in the focal point area.

The company also plans to open a nationwide sales and aftersales service network in about 200 districts across the country.

The company hopes to raise its turnover by atleast five times in the next five years with the new plant and the sales network in place.

"We operate in a sector, which involves a lot of direct marketing and there is very little scope for repeat business. Hence the after sales service becomes the most crucial determinant of the business," said the company's Managing Director B B Jindal, adding, "We expect the results to start coming in the next two years time."

The company also has plans to spend Rs 1.5 crore for the promotion of its districtwise residential sale and service engineers programme.

The company will train these engineers at its own cost and then appoint them in their native districts on a commission basis. For the first year of operation, the company has devised a system of assured financial benefits for these engineers.

"There is a very wide scope in this business.

"The market can be stretched to 100 times of its present size. But the most difficult part is the aftersales service part, for which one needs to establish a nationwide network," said Jindal.

The company has also exported industrial stabilisers to countries like Bangladesh, Nepal and some countries in West Africa.

"The export market is a very large market. But similar aftersales service problems have hindered business," Jindal said, adding, the company's key area of focus would continue to be the domestic market.
