JK Cements is planning to set up a Rs 1,000 crore factory at Muddapur village in Karnataka.The foundation stone for the project will be laid tomorrow, and the construction work is expected to be completed in 18 months. The factory will start functioning from May/June 2008.The factory will have capacity to produce 30 lakh tonne of cement. An in-house thermal power unit will be set up to generate 50MW.
