JSW Steel posted 5 per cent growth in crude steel production in October 2008 when compared with corresponding period last year, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The total steel production stood at 3.38 lakh tonnes for the company.
JSW is also planning to rationalise the product mix as per the current market conditions and appropriately modify the production programme to effectively reduce the total production by around 20 per cent.
The company will utilise this time for general maintenance of the facilities.
Shares in JSW Steel opened down 3.6 percent after this announcement. JSW Steel belongs to JSW Group, part of the US $8 billion OP Jindal Group.
