JSW Steel, India's second largest steelmaker by capacity, has said that its crude steel production for the third quarter of the current fiscal has grown by 11 per cent. Sequentially, the steel production has moved up by 4 per cent.
The company said that its steel production for the month of December 2010, at 5.70 lakh tonne, has been its highest ever monthly production. In a statement, JSW Steel said that its flat rolled steel production grew by 33 per cent, at 1.25 million tonne in the quarter ended December 31, 2010 as against the same quarter an year before. Long rolled products, too, witnessed a jump of 19 per cent at the end of the third quarter over the same period last year.
Crude steel production for the nine months ended December 31, 2010 stood at 4.78 million tonne, a growth of 9 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
