Jubilant Foodworks, the master franchisee of Domino's International in South Asia, (barring Pakistan), plans to enter Bangladesh after opening the first Domino's Pizza outlet in Sri Lanka earlier this month.
The company will launch four more outlets in Colombo by the end of the financial year. "In the next four to five years, we propose to have 25 to 30 stores in Sri Lanka," said Ajay Kaul, chief executive officer. Jubilant is currently assessing the market potential in Bangladesh.
While the eating out segment in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is comparatively smaller than India, Kaul said there was room for growth. According to a recent report prepared by consultancies Technopak and Cushman & Wakefield, eating out as a segment in India is an approximately Rs 24,000 crore market. This is slated to touch Rs 37,000 crore by 2015.
Jubilant has 392 outlets of Domino Pizza in India and looks to add 80 more. Its main rival, Pizza Hut, is also adding stores. US-based Yum! Restaurants, the promoter of Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell, said it would invest Rs 450 crore to treble the number of stores in the next five years.
