Mohali-based K-Watch Ltd, an associate of Khanna Watches Ltd, which manufactures affordable wrist watches under the brand name "K-Watch", is scouting for joint ventures with partners in the Middle East and African countries.

According to Khanna Watches Limited Chairman Ashok Khanna, Indian manufacturers provided better durability, dependability and designs unlike the Chinese watch makers.

"Manufacturing in India has the advantage of a strong R&D. The company's presence in either Africa or the Middle East will provide us a wide market to cater to," said Khanna.

He added that negotiations were on and in the next six months the tie-up will be completed.

The Mohali unit produces one lakh watches annually. Khanna believes production will triple with the tie-up. "There is huge potential in this segment and with my trained manpower of 50 people I see a robust growth in the coming years,"quipped Khanna.

The company was started in 1978 in technical collaboration with M/S SBBM Burdet, France to manufacture watch cases of international quality and standards.

The company's watches are available in stainless steel and gold-coated models in a wide price range.

Khanna Watches has catered to companies like Nivea, JK Tyre, Hindustan Times, Coca Cola, Air India, Haryana Small Savings, Trident, Sonalika, Airtel and Singapore Airlines.
