Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd through its group company-Shree Shubham Logistics Ltd- has firmed up its plan to set up three more commodity warehousing logistics parks in Gujarat. Recently, the company launched its first agri logistics park at Unjha in North Gujarat marking its entry into agri logistics sector.
"Apart from Unjha, one of the major agri commodities centers in India, the company is looking at setting up similar facilities at Rajkot, Ahmedabad and Deesa in Gujarat," said Kalpataru Group chairman Mofatraj Munot said on the launch of its commodity warehousing logistics park at Unjha, which has a total capacity of 15,000 tonnes.
In fact, the company intends to roll out 40 logistic parks across the country over the next three years, of which 12 to 15 are likely to come up by March 2009. Rs. 3,500 crore plus Kalpataru Group will invest Rs. 140 crore for setting up these parks in the first page.
In addition to warehouse, company's first logistics park at Unjha, spread across 70,000 sq. ft., will also processing, sorting, testing and certification facilities. Also, it will offer farmers a platform for auctioning their agri produces. Kalpataru Group has also tied-up with couple of banks for making finance available to farmers.
"India is one of the largest commodity producers with diverse climatic conditions, hence generating a need for warehouses in the country. However, there is no single warehouse and logistics chain in the country.
Our Unjha facility is a step forward in providing a proper logistic and warehouse facility to farmers," Munot added.
