The transformation of 'My Kalyan' stores to mini diamond stores will make us one of the largest diamond chains in Tamil Nadu, he said.
The market for diamonds has registered impressive growth over the last couple of years. As per industry estimates, the Indian diamond jewellery market grew by three per cent to $ 3.4 billion in 2014.
Kalyan is one of the largest markets, outside of Kerala, for Kalyan Jewellers with a cumulative investment of Rs 800 crore across 17 showrooms in the state.
The company had recently made a foray into Chennai with the world's largest showroom at an investment of Rs 200 crore.
Kalyan plans to open four more showrooms in Chrompet, Adyar, Vellacherry and Anna Nagar, of which two will be during the course of this financial year and two in the early part of next year. A total of Rs 300 crore will be invested in these four showroom.
Today Kalyan Jewellers has nearly 600 'My Kalyan' centres spread across the country. Kalyan plans to have 1,000 'My Kalyan' centres by the end of the fiscal 2016.
