 "Karnataka looks to boost investment image by focusing on growth of women entrepreneurs")
Karnataka is organising an event specifically for women entrepreneurs to help them get more business from other women business owners, corporate buyers and the government itself, as it explores new opportunities for boosting business in the state.
The event dubbed ThinkBig 2016 will be held for two days in November at Bengaluru's International Exhibition Centre and is organised in association with WEConnect International. The states expects over 4,000 women entrepreneurs to participate in the summit.
"Karnataka is synonymous with entrepreneurship and progress. I believe that this is an opportune moment for Karnataka to host Think Big 2016, in order to highlight both elements by focusing on women-owned businesses," said R V Deshpande, Karnataka's minister of industries and infrastructure development.
Apart from serving as a platform to help these women entrepreneurs get more business and motivation, the state will also look to bring banks into the fold in order to increase financial access to these women run businesses. For startups, the state has also invited venture capital investors where they will be able to pitch their business ideas in order to raise funding.
The event, for which preparations have already begun, will see participation of women business owners from across the country and world, including from countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Singapore, etc. The event will also have an exhibition section where over 500 women run business will be able to show off their products to other attendees.
WEConnect certified women entrepreneurs will also have the chance to participate in WEPitch, a competition with a Rs 25 lakh grand prize that will award great ideas, while there will also be an award ceremony to celebrate outstanding WEConnect women entrepreneurs.
