KEC bags $33m Iraq order

KEC International Ltd (KEC) has received an additional order of $ 33 million from the Coalition Provincial Authority of Iraq.
 
The contract was originally signed with the UNDP for executing Transmission Lines in the North Iraq in the districts of Sulaimaniyah, Dohuk & Erbil for a total value of $59 million.
 
The contract is now transferred to the Coalition Provincial Authority of Iraq and the scope of the work has been further increased to $92 million. Construction work in the contract is expected to start from April 2004.
 
Kec managing director Ramesh Chandak said, "Iraq reconstruction project work is on track. As of December 2003, most of supplies have been completed and now the field work is in progress."
 
It has also bagged a $6.1 million order under the reconstruction plan for 400 kv transmission line of Nassariyan Power Plant and Khor-al-zubayer power plant.
 
The project is scheduled to be completed by May 2004.
 
Chandak said the company's present order book stood at nearly Rs 1,700 crore, including these contracts.
