KEC International has secured four new contracts worth $52.9 million (approximately Rs. 231 crore) from The Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPC).According to a release issued by KEC International to the BSE, of the four contracts three are for construction of power distribution networks. The project is to be funded by the African Development Bank, and on completion is expected to electrify over 40,000 rural households.The fourth contract is for 230 KV single circuit transmission line project from Combolcha to Semera (180 Kms) and Semera to Dicheto (63 kms). This project also involves laying of fibre optic cables.Ramesh Chandak, MD of the company said "These new orders signify the confidence of power utilities throughout the world in KEC's capabilities of adding value through efficient project management end execution. Apart from transmission lines KEC has also developed competencies in supply and construction of distribution infrastructure. KEC will continue to develop new markets, focus upon Value- Chain expansion and improving operational efficiency".
