Kernex Microsystems, the manufacturer of safety and signal systems for the Indian Railways like Anti Collision Device (ACD), is planning to enter into the Thailand and Bangladesh market with its electronic gates for the railways there.
The Hyderabad-based company is bidding for supply of electronic gates to Thailand and Bangladesh railways.
“We are preparing the tender for the supply electronic gates to some railway project in Bangkok. We have qualified in all respect for bidding,” LV Raju, Managing Director, Kernex Microsystems (India) said.
If the company turns out to be the lowest bidder then, it will be supplying 160 electronic gates to national railway in Thailand.
Kernex is also exploring the market in Bangladesh, as it will also bid for supplying electronic gates to the national railways there for Dhaka-Chattagram route.
“We will bid for installing electronic gates gates for 13 stations on Dhaka-Chattargram route. The process has got delayed for some time. But we will definitely be bidding for this in the next two months,” Raju said.

The company is also expecting some fresh order from Egyptian railway from where it bagged $17.5 million order for supplying 136 semi automatic level crossing gates in 2008.
“We are expecting some fresh order for some 35-40 more gates from Egyptian National Railway,” he said adding that as the company is expecting a turn over of around Rs 400 crore in the financial year 2011-12.
However, Raju said that there has not been any order or communication from the Indian Railways for
installing Anti-Collision Device (ACD) mechanism, currently being implemented on the Northeast Frontier Railway and Konkan route. The Railway budget proposed to extend the ACD (also known as Raksha Kavach) to seven more zones. The patent for ACD is with the Konkan Railway Corporation.
“If some order has to come it should come through Konkan railways. There has not been communication yet. The financial has just started, we hope something will come out soon,” he said.
Kernex is presently associated with Indian railways as it is doing operational maintenance of ACD in the Northeast Frontier Railway and providing software technology to Konkan Railways.
