B K Birla-promoted diversified firm Kesoram Industries has recorded a 57.39% increase in net profit to Rs 89.4 crore in the second quarter ended September 2007 over the corresponding period last year, on the back of higher revenues from the cement division.The company clocked 49.25% higher revenues from the cement business despite a machinery breakdown in June 2007 in the third production line of the Vasavadatta cement unit affecting cement production in the half-year.The other major revenue earner, the tyres division, recorded a 26.78% increase in revenues during the quarter.Profit before tax stood at Rs 126.2 crore, an increase of 65.83% over the corresponding period last year.Net sales were at Rs 776.2 crore, an increase of 53.64% while total income increased 50.91% to Rs 782.8 crore.
