In a bid to focus more on its flagship jeans brand 'Trigger', Coimbatore based KG Denim Ltd has brought the brand under the fold of Trigger Apparels. |
"This restructuring exercise of the company is aimed at consolidating the brand 'Trigger'. As part of this restructuring, the branded business and the retailing outlets will now come under the Trigger Apparels," according to B Sriramulu, managing director of KG Denim Limited. |
Earlier, K G Baalakrishnan, chairman of the company, told Business Standard, that the company is now eyeing the northern denim market and is ready to establish its retail footprint there. |
"We are planning to promote 'Trigger' in the North by setting up over 120 shopping zones within three months. This will be done through Trigger Jeans Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of K G Denim, headquartered at Coimbatore," he said. |
KG Denim has 70 per cent market share in the branded denim segment in the South. The company plans a capacity expansion by tripling the production capacity from the current 2.5 lakh pieces per month, in order to meet the increasing demand in the denim wear sector. |
The company is also planning to set up a laundry facility in Coimbatore with an Italian collaboration which is likely to handle 5,000 units per day and will eventually double its handling capacity by 2006. |
The company has also plans to set up KG Denim (USA) Inc, its wholly owned subsidiary, to ramp up its operations in the US market. More than 50-60 per cent of the company's output is exported to all over Europe and countries like USA, Mexico and Turkey. |
The company also intends to diversify its product range by introducing casual shirts, inner wears and women's wear. The company, in a bid to explore the growing home textile sector, is likely to introduce bed covers and bed spreads within a year. |
