Khaitan eyes Rs 500 cr turnover this year

Targets sales of 3 lakh pressure cookers by end of FY 2008-09.
 
Khaitan Electricals Ltd (KEL), a fast-growing electrical solutions company, is eyeing a turnover of Rs 500 crore during fiscal 2007-08.
 
The company, which has entered the non-electrical segment by launching pressure cookers, has set a target of selling 3 lakh pressure cookers by end of FY 2008-09.
 
Speaking to Business Standard after the launch of the pressure cookers in Nashik, a senior company official said, "The company has diversified its product range by launching pressure cookers in two categories "" aluminium outerlid and stainless steel outerlid and the company aims to deliver quality products at affordable prices to its customers. Instead of direct manufacturing, the company is outsourcing pressure cookers and has invested around Rs 25 crore in this project."
 
Stating that the company would not compete other major players in pressure cooker segment, he said, "Initially, the company will focus on pressure cooker brand development. We have set the target of selling 3 lakh pressure cookers by the end of the next fiscal year 2008-09."
 
"To capitalise on the growth in India's residential, commercial and retail spaces, the company has geared up to enter sectors like pumps, lights, home appliances, cables, wires and circuit breakers which would enhance its portfolio even further. Good quality, great performance and novelty in designs are the hallmarks of any product from Khaitan," he said.
 
The company has registered Rs 300 crore sales turn over in the fiscal year 2006-07. The company's turn over in FY 2005-06 was Rs. 203 crore.
 
The company has set the target of Rs 500 crore turn over in the present fiscal year 2007-08 and Rs 1,000 crore in the fiscal year 2008-09.
