Kinetic Communication, a part of the Kinetic Group, and Ducati Energia, based in Bologna, Italy, have formed a 50:50 joint venture for the production of auto-electrical components.The JV company, to be named Ducati Energia India, will be located in Pune and make flywheel magnetos, CDI, ignition system, regulators and ECU for two and three-wheelers, Manish Motwani, managing director of the joint venture, said. Ducati Energia is a euro 100 million company manufacturing electronic and contact ignition systems for mopeds, scooters, motorcycles and stationary engines. It also produces electronically-controlled battery-recharging systems for two-wheelers and stationary engines and permanent magnet starters. Motwani said the company will set up a manufacturing facility at Chinchwad near Pune with an initial investment of Rs 12- 15 crore. The facility will commence production in the next four months time, and will have an employee strength of up to 200 initially, he said.Motwani said Ducati Energia will have the call option of increasing their share in the JV to 51%.The Indian facility will not only meet domestic demand but may become an outsourcing hub for Ducati Energia for the Far East, European,and other world-wide markets, Motwani informed, adding that exports to the Europe market may start even before the company releases the products in the Indian market.
