Launches talent hunt for rock musicians.

With music talent hunts already a rage in Kerala with the various television channels kick-starting such initiatives in the film music and light music categories, airline and beer major Kingfisher, too, has stepped up the heat by turning on the music to pick the best among the young rock talent in the state.

According to a Kingfisher source, the talent hunt is aimed at providing a chance for the young musicians across the state to perform on a larger platform, and also provide the required media exposure to take their music forward.

The initiative, according to the source, has been taken in a bid to discover true talent as Kerala is a fertile ground for rock music talen in south India.

The talent hunt, called 'Kingfisher Kerala Rocks', will have two bands each from the cities of Kochi , Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.

The auditions have been done in Kochi and the events in the other two cities will happen by the weekend. The two bands picked from each city will compete for the title at the grand finale to be held in Kochi on April 8.

A winner and a runner-up band will be announced at the finals. The winning band will be given away Rs 75, 000 and a performance contract of Rs 50,000, while the runner-up will get Rs 25, 000.

This apart, the winning band will also get to perform with Kerala's own famous rock band, Motherjane, at the grand finale, the source added.

This isn't Kingfisher's first initiative in talent hunt. The company had earlier been associated with similar events such as annual KBL Rock Bands in Kolkata, KF Voice of Goa, KF Model Hunt, KF Comedy Nights and KF Art Gallery.

The company plans to make 'Kingfisher Kerala Rocks' an annual event, the source added.

According to the Kingfisher source, potential rockers can register for the auditions at the Idea offices in the three cities. Idea is associate sponsor of the event.
