As part of its strategy to strengthen its fan base, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), one of the eight competing teams in the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL), announced launching their fan club, KXIP Lion’s den. Preity Zinta, chairperson and promoter, KXIP, said the fan club aimed to bring exclusive benefits to the KXIP enthusiast who took pleasure in being associated with the franchise. Four types of cards will be issued. KXIP Cub Club (for children below 15 years), KXIP Gold, KXIP Platinum and KXIP NRI cards, designed to cater to the fans across sections and continents, have been launched.
The fan club aims to create an ecosystem between the team, fans and advertising partners to engage with each other. The members of the club can enjoy benefit ranging from discount on match tickets, merchandise and outlets. Also, they will get opportunities to meet and party with the cricketers and special match day privileges. KXIP, which is eyeing break even in 1-2 years, is also targetting the global platform. KXIP has 'global strategy' in mind that would help the franchise create a huge fan. The strengthening of fan base would also offers bigger platform for the sponsoring partners of the franchise to leverage.
KXIP also unveiled their two new mascots - Rocky and Ranjit. The mascots in animation form would be aired on multitude of digital channels.As part of their corporate social responsibility, KXIP pledged their support towards the UNAIDS commitments towards PLHIV (People living with HIV in India). In addition to the existing merchandise, KXIP launched the red bands. The proceeds of the sale would be dedicated for the cause of UNAIDS.
