Kochi Metro to begin civil works tomorrow

Civil works on the Phase-I of Kochi metro will commence from Friday. Chief minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the starting work at a function to be held in Thiruvanthapuram. The 26-km Phase-I from Aluva to Petta would be completed in three years.

"Land acqui-sition and funds availability would bechallenges during the initial phase execution. However, we see good support from the state and the Ernakulam district administration in this fruition of the project," said E Sreedharan, principal adviser, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
