Leading retail chain Koutons plans to expand and focus on its family concept stores by opening 100 more such outlets by end-FY11, a senior company official said.
"We are focusing more on our family concept stores which was introduced last year. We will be opening 100 family stores that will have garments, accessories and shoes for men, women and kids. The stores would be opened through the franchise route," Koutons' General Manager (Sales and Marketing) Akash Deep Sandhu told PTI on the sidelines of a conference here today.
At present, Koutons has 1,400 stores of which 150 are family concept ones.
Besides, as part of the company's usual exercise, Sandhu said 200 more stores would be opened by the end of the next financial year.
"Last year, we were in a wait-and-watch mode but this year as the market is opening up and we expect a correction in rentals by 20-30 per cent, we plan to focus, consolidate and grow," Sandhu said.
The stores would be of 2,500 sq ft and above, Sandhu said, without divulging investment details.
The company is also eyeing overseas markets and "we are looking at markets like West Asia and South Asia," he said.
