L&T bags ONGC's Mumbai High order

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won Rs 1,006 crore contract from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to set up nine new wellhead platforms at Mumbai High, off Mumbai coast.
 
The platforms are expected to boost oil output from Mumbai High South by around 2.15 million tonnes per year and increase gas production by 3.87 million cubic metres per day.
 
ONGC has already invested Rs 8,200 crore for redevelopment at Mumbai High over five-year period to add additional 76 million tonnes of production. L&T will complete engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of the platforms.
 
The fabrication work of the wellhead platforms will be carried out at L&T's Hazira unit in Gujarat and Mangalore unit, according to a press release. L&T will subcontract engineering for this project to Aker Kvaerner.
 
L&T is expected to deliver five platforms by April 2005 and the remaining four by February 28, 2006.
 
L&T will also deliver around 30,000 tonne of topsides and jackets for the project.
