Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been awarded an EPC (engineering, procure & construct) order by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for a coal handling plant package at its Barh Super Thermal Power Station near Patna. This is for Stage-I (3 x 660 MW) of the power station, according to an official release issued by L&T to the BSE today.The order valued at Rs 380 crore includes design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the coal handling plant complete with civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation work. The order has been secured against stiff global competition. It will be executed by L&T's ECC Division, the release said.The project site is located 75 km from Patna city. Barh coal handling plant is a green field project and it is to be completed within 43 months from August 2006. The coal handling plant package consists of a track hopper, 3200 TPH conveyor system, two reversible stacker reclaimers and two wagon tipplers. Equipment like paddle feeders, crushers, apron feeders, Grizzly feeders, and auxiliary system like dust extraction and suppression are also part of the package, the release said.
