“For 2012-13 we have got what we had budgeted for and this is close to what we did in the previous year,” said S N Subrahmanyan, whole time director at L&T. “For the current financial year the scenario is tough and we remain cautiously optimistic,” he said referring to the impending general election next year and challenges in the global economy.
The company that has capabilities in domains ranging from civil and mechanical to electrical and instrumentation engineering provides service for large industrial and infrastructure projects. It has backlog of orders worth Rs 1,21,000 crore spread across these domains.
The Power transmission and Distribution Business got orders worth Rs 1,097 crores including a major order from Punjab State Power Corporation in the month. Another order for this business came from Power Grid Corporation of India for construction of a 400 kV pooling station at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu.
